If you have a high level of English already, you can directly apply to different education programmes:

• Graduate Certificate: Equivalent to Bachelor Degrees and usually taking from six months to a year of full time studies, graduate certificates are ideal for students that have a strong professional/ practical experience and a Diploma or Advanced Diploma.
• Bachelor Degree: Full time studies that usually last between three and five years. Ideal for students that finished High School and are looking to build a strong career - supported in a high level of academic knowledge.
• Postgraduate Degree: Similar to Masters programs in content, these programs usually last between one and two years. Slightly inferior to Masters programs, sometimes postgraduate certificates are given to students that have an incomplete Masters.
• Masters by coursework: Full time studies that can last from one to two years. Usually, a great choice for people that already have a Degree, some professional experience and a desire to deepen their knowledge.
• Masters by research: This type of Masters focuses on research (which you have to coordinate and define with your future University), and can lead to doctorate studies.
• Doctorate: Taking from three to six years, this is the highest academic level possible. With a highly theoretical nature, this type of program is ideal for professionals that desire following research or developing academic career.

Generally, there are four levels of VET/ TAFE courses:

• Certificate I, II: basic level courses, introductory training for a specific function or profession.
• Certificate III, IV: average level courses, with a elevated level of depth that certify expertize.
• Diploma: advanced level studies, that go beyond basic structures of knowledge and stimulate the student’s creativity and ability to juggle complex technical skills.
• Advanced Diploma: advanced level studies, that tend to focus in very specific areas of knowledge and explore a higher level of complexity and personal responsibility.

What is the difference between VET and TAFE courses?

TAFE courses are generally more demanding, offer a higher variety of subjects and the final internships can be payed. TAFE courses are also know for having a very high number of Australian students so these are ideal for students wanting to submerse themselves in the culture.

• International students need a minimum course of 20 hours a week to obtain the COE (Confirmation of Enrolment) from the Education institution;
• Each student needs to provide a coherent tract record of studies/ career progression that relates and justifies the intended studies in Australia (genuine student) in order for the student Visa (class 500) to be granted;
• Students should also prove their reasons to return to their country of origin;
• Depending on the course the student enrolled, the student may be required to prove the current English level (IELTS, Cambridge or TOEFL certificate with less than three years);
• Students may be required to prove their financial capability to support themselves whilst studying in Australia – meaning having access to funds;
• Students may need to prove health status.
